Champions League team names Nenad Bjelica, who is connected to Rangers….

Rangers-related Nenad Bjelica, a Croatian manager, has been appointed to Union Berlin.

It has been announced that the former midfielder for Kaiserslautern, along with assistant Daniel Jumic, will rejoin the German Bundesliga.

Urs Fischer, who went from being a rising Bundesliga force Union Berlin to the gutter, is replaced by Nenad Bjelica.

Fischer was fired after leading the team to a run of 14 games without a victory, despite having led them to a fourth-place finish in the Bundesliga last season and the Champions League group stages this season.

Consequently, Union Berlin’s team is in the Bundesliga relegation zone when Nenad Bjelica takes over.

There were serious doubts about any Rangers interest given that Trabzonspor reportedly paid £10 million to fire Bjelica and his backroom staff, who were heading to Berlin.

The manager would then add fuel to the fire by declaring he was “ready” to resume work as soon as he left the Super Lig team.

The Croatian manager, who later went on to say that he was “never a candidate” to take over at Rangers, can now look forward to a stint in the German city.

Though Nenad Bjelica was an intriguing choice, Rangers ultimately chose the Belgian manager Philippe Clement.

The 52-year-old coach played for a number of Spanish football teams, most notably Albacete, Real Betis, and Las Palmas, in addition to stints with NK Osijek.

Nenad Bjelica also makes appearances in Germany and Austria. With Union Berlin, he manages a German club for the first time.

Before accepting the position in Turkey, the coach managed a number of football teams in Austria, including Wolfsberger and Rapid Wien. He also held managerial positions at Spezia in Italy, Lech Poznan in Poland, and Dinamo Zagreb & NK Osijek in Croatia.

Rangers supporters will be watching Nenad Bjelica’s career as he takes on the responsibility of guiding Union Berlin away from relegation in his first Bundesliga position.
