Last night, the Boston Bruins were defeated 3-2 by the Tampa Bay Lightning in a shootout. Goalie Linus Ullmark, though, has now dropped two of the game’s games, this one from his pocket.
Today, NHL Player Safety stated that Ullmark has been penalized $5,000 for high-sticking Bolts forward Michael Eyssimont, the maximum amount permitted by the CBA.

Last night, the Boston Bruins were defeated 3-2 by the Tampa Bay Lightning in a shootout. Goalie Linus Ullmark, though, has now dropped two of the game’s games, this one from his pocket.
Eyssimont drove the net during the action and gave Ullmark a hard blow to the head, which naturally infuriated the goalie. Ullmark then proceeded to strike Eyssimont in the head with his stick, which naturally resulted in this fine.
While none of the players in this play were especially tidy, Ullmark is the only one who received a fine upon leaving. Although some people might find that annoying, it’s fortunate that he escaped a suspension and won’t have to miss any games as a result.
The current Vezina Trophy winner has a 16-6-3 record, 2.64 GAA, and a.917 SV% in 26 games this season.
