With regard to offensive line injuries, the Jets are simply unlucky. Due to injuries, two starters from Week 13 against the Falcons will not play in Week 14 against the Texans.
Wes Schweitzer, a guard who had just recovered from a calf injury, is not available on Sunday because it appears that the injury got worse.
Furthermore, a fresh injury surfaced on Friday when rookie Carter Warren sustained a hip injury that limited him. Between left and right tackle for the past two weeks, Warren has started.
Due to injuries, Week 14 will be the Jets’ ninth consecutive game using a different offensive line combination. Week 5 against the Denver Broncos was the last game the Jets played with the same lineup as the previous week. Mekhi Becton, Laken Tomlinson, Connor McGovern, Joe Tippmann, and Alijah Vera-Tucker had started for the third straight week prior to Vera-Tucker’s season-ending Achilles injury.
Guys are moving across the scrimmage line. Carter Warren is moving left to right, and [Joe] Tippmann is moving from center to guard. You have Iron Man on the left guard, who has been improving each week with Laken [Tomlinson]. Of course, they have done well across the board, and we are proud of the five players we have lined up. I believe they have a decent chance of succeeding. We simply need to provide them with some consistency so they can learn how to collaborate and develop into the team we believe they can be.
