Breaking News;Leeds United, Leicester City septet dominate Championship automatic promotion race combined XI…..
Leicester City, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, and Southampton are quickly forming a four-horse race in the battle for Championship automatic promotion.
Despite their midweek setbacks, Leeds and Southampton are still in a strong position to profit from any mistakes made by Championship leaders Leicester and Ipswich. Additionally, the gap between fourth and fifth place is currently four points.
The four candidates for promotion have positioned themselves to score at least 90 points, suggesting that the three Premier League teams that were demoted (as well as Kieran McKenna’s incredible Ipswich team) are a cut above the others.
A thrilling four-horse race for the top two could be in store for Championship fans. However, Leeds United and Leicester City are probably the most likely to finish in the automatic spots given this fairly strong starting lineup.
Illan Meslier (Leeds United) is the GK.
After a terrible 2022–2023 relegation season for both himself and Leeds United, the Frenchman has made amends.
His confidence was severely damaged during the relegation struggle of the previous season, as an increasing amount of errors began to appear in his play, following rumors of a big transfer to another team. And even though a number of his former teammates left in the summer, Meslier stayed put and is now benefiting from Daniel Farke’s continuous rebuilding efforts at Elland Road.
Richmond’s Kyle Walker-Peters, right-wing
Walker-Peters was one noteworthy player who stayed in Southampton despite having the ability to make an instant return to the Premier League via a bottom-half team. The majority of the team’s best players from their miserable Nathan Jones-affected season left in the summer.
Ricardo Pereira, another player too talented to be playing at this level, is defeated by Walker-Peters.
CB: Leicester City’s Jannik Vestergaard
After Enzo Maresca signed Conor Coady and Callum Doyle in the summer, Vestergaard may not have expected to play much for Leicester this season, but the 31-year-old has been a key member of the Foxes’ lineup while the two newcomers are sidelined with injuries.
Vestergaard, who teams up well with Woet Faes, is a vital component of the Championship’s top defense, which has seen Leicester surrender just 14 goals in 21 league games.
Joe Rodon (Leeds United) as the CB
In the Premier League, Leeds’ defense was a complete mess, but Farke has strengthened their defense, and summer acquisition Rodon has been a wise addition from Tottenham Hotspur on loan.
Leif Davis (Ipswich Town): Leeds United made several major transfer blunders in recent years, one of which was allowing Davis to join Ipswich Town for £1m in 2022. Prior to this season, Rodon’s career was in danger of stagnating after he was hardly given a chance at Spurs or while on loan at Rennes. He is now demonstrating the form that earned him his £11m move to the north London team.
Davis is leading the Championship assist charts with nine in 20 games after shining for the Tractor Boys during their incredible League One promotion season. His current value is far higher than the £1 million he cost Ipswich approximately eighteen months ago.
Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is the CM.
When Harvey Barnes and James Maddison were out of the lineup, Dewsbury-Hall filled in admirably at The King Power Stadium, despite his lackluster performance during Leicester’s Premier League tenure.
Dewsbury-Hall, who is currently leading Leicester’s promotion push with 14 goal involvement in 21 Championship games, previously made an impression at this level with Luton Town.
Harry Winks (Leicester City) as the CM
The daring decision to join Leicester in the Championship during the summer was made by the former Tottenham player. Although it was anticipated that he would be signed by a lower-tier Premier League team, he is emerging as one of Maresca’s key players.
Rather than taking the easier route and joining a Premier League team in the bottom half, the England international deserves praise for rebuilding his career with Sampdoria and now Leicester. Rather, he is reaping enormous benefits from his stints in Italy and the Championship.
RW: Dan James (Leeds United) James has had a turbulent few years, but under Farke, he is likely playing the best football of his career. Blessed with frightening pace but frequently lacking a cutting edge, the Wales international has improved his game this season and looks to be developing into the complete package. FEATURE: £15 million Sunderland star joins Leeds United, Leicester, and Ipswich sextet in Championship XI of the season CAM: Conor Chaplin (Ipswich Town) Chaplin is one example of a player who is playing the best football of his career at Ipswich, with McKenna-ball turning mediocre footballers into world-beaters.
The attacking midfielder in 22–23 was Chuba Akpom of League One; his 29–goal season came out of nowhere, and he did a fantastic job adjusting to the step up to the Championship, tallying eight goals and five assists in 21 games.
LW: Summerville Crysencio (Leeds United)
Summerville is a class above the rest at this level and is arguably the best player in the Championship. He was one of the few Leeds players who could remain positive following their relegation the previous season.
