Now, Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho has revealed something unexpected about Kalvin Philips’ move from Leeds United to Manchester City.
The England international midfielder was said to have paid approximately £45 million to move from Leeds to Manchester City. Mourinho has since asserted that the transaction was valued at approximately €80 million.
While describing how it is simple for teams like Manchester City to spend a significant sum of money on a player and move on even if they don’t perform, Mourinho brought up the transfer. With clubs like Roma, who have limited resources, it is not the same.
Phillips has not been a particularly impressive addition to Manchester City. Due to multiple injury issues, he has hardly played for the Premier League’s biggest clubs, and manager Pep Guardiola has chastised him for his weight.
It remains to be seen if he can secure a January exit and restart his career with regular football at another club. He has previously shown his quality in the English top flight with the Leeds.
