Breaking News:Birmingham fan Troy Deeney forced into ‘painful’ Aston Villa admission after what he saw at Villa Park…

Aston Villa fans don’t need to be told how well their team is doing right now.

But it will no doubt be nice for them to hear boyhood Birmingham City fan Troy Deeney doing it.

This season, Unai Emery’s squad has dominated the top flight. This week, the Villans defeated Manchester City in one of their biggest Premier League victories ever.

The Villans not only defeated Pep Guardiola’s team, but also thoroughly outplayed them.

Leon Bailey’s goal in the 74th minute gave Villa the advantage over City in the league standings, but according to BBC Sport statistics, Emery’s team had a staggering 22 shots on goal as opposed to the champions’ two.

In addition to controlling 46% of the ball throughout the Wednesday night’s match, Villa also peppered the opposition’s box with six corners to their zero.

With his team giving up a lot of goals since taking over as manager of Aston Villa more than a year ago, Emery has undoubtedly adopted a bit of a kamikaze approach to games.

However, they are scoring far more, and his team’s intense press is to blame for that.

When Premier League reporter Adrian Clarke visited Mikel Arteta at his press conference on Thursday, December 8, to discuss the Arsenal versus Aston Villa match, Clarke brought up Villa’s strategy.

Clarke, cited on the official Arsenal website, stated: “Villa purposefully turns the middle third into a crowded area where it is difficult to get a foothold on the ball by pushing their back four up as high as they can and tucking their wide players infield. This aids in their production of worthwhile turnovers, but maintaining such a high line entails some risk.

Arteta also acknowledged that one should be cautious of Villa’s intense media attention.

“[Villa] are really brave to play from the back, they do two or three different things, and they are really well set up tactically,” he remarked. “They really go after you because they have players in open areas who are constantly attacking you and players between the lines who have the ability to harm you.”

Villa loves to exert pressure on opposing teams.

However, no one anticipated that the Villans would subdue ardent Bluenose Deeney, as the former Watford striker acknowledged that the Villa Park team’s performance this season has astounded him.

“It is painful to listen to Aston Villa supporters crowing so much with them third in the table, but their chirpiness is well-founded,” Deeney wrote in a Saturday, December 8, article for The Sun.

“Because everything about Villa right now is really amazing: the players, the management, the recruiting, the fans.”

“Every player and every supporter has faith in Emery’s defensive high line, as well as his World Cup-winning keeper Emi Martinez,” the current Forest Green Rovers striker continued.

“Spanish Emery has completely changed Aston Villa, starting with the full-back Lucas Digne, going all the way up to the striker Ollie Watkins and midfielder Douglas Luiz, among many other players.”

At Villa Park, Emery’s revolution has been enormous.

On December 9, nobody in their wildest dreams could have predicted that they would be ahead of Man City, the treble winners, but here they are, firmly in the running to make it into the Champions League.

In other Aston Villa news, Robbie Savage was compelled to acknowledge something regarding the Villans.
