Carlton Palmer has stated that Charlie Cresswell will be “pushing” to leave the Championship club at the end of the month.
When the 6′ 3in defender returned from his summer loan at Millwall, he was given a new long-term contract.
He was given the coveted number five jersey and a new contract extension, but he has dropped in Leeds’ hierarchy.
This is mostly because of Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon’s excellent play; the 21-year-old has only made four appearances in the Championship, with just one of those being a start.
Palmer, a former Leeds player, stated that Cresswell is going to push for a departure from the team early next month.

Leeds United’s 23-year-old forward is expected to return in 2024 December 13, 2023, 18:45
“The player is clearly seeking playing time and will likely push for a loan in January, if not a permanent move.” To Football League World, he said.
“Cresswell is an excellent defender who is very at ease with the ball; he would fit right in at Southampton.”
The 21-year-old has previously been connected to a move to the Saints, but Palmer doesn’t think the team would approve the transfer if it might help a competitor.
He declared, “Leeds are clear on their stance: as they look to get promoted this season, they will not loan out Cresswell in January, and certainly not to a promotion rival.”
