Breaking: 4-star safety in 2025 Colin Gay portrait of Faheem Delane, who commits to Ohio State football
The construction of Ohio State’s defensive back class for 2025 is not yet complete. Four-star safety Faheem Delane said on Sunday that he will commit to Ohio State, beating out Alabama, LSU, Virginia Tech, and Tennessee, after the addition of five-star cornerbacks Devin Sanchez and Na’eem Offord.
According to the composite rankings of 247Sports, Delane, a player from Olney, Maryland, who is almost 6-foot-3 and weighs 195 pounds, is ranked No. 34 in the 2025 class. In addition, he is the top-ranked Maryland prospect and the second-best safety. “Aside from the physical aspect of it — having the size, speed, and athletic ability — he just has great football instincts,” said Andy Stefanelli, the football coach of Our Lady Good Counsel High School. “You can’t teach that, either.” Delane joins three-star Cody Haddad and four-star DeShawn Stewart as Ohio State’s third safety pledge of the 2025 class. From June 7–9, Delane made his official visit to Ohio State.
In 2017, Ohio State acquired five-star defensive end Chase Young, the top prospect in Maryland. Mansoor Delane, a Virginia Tech cornerback and 2022 Freshman All-American, is Delane’s brother.
Ohio State’s first Maryland commit in the 2025 class is Delane, a graduate of Our Lady Good Counsel High School. Blake Woodby, a four-star cornerback from Baltimore, decided not to commit to OSU’s 2025 class. Mitchell Melton, a defensive end for Ohio State, went to Our Lady Good Counsel High School as well. He was a 2020 class four-star signee.
