Boston — — The Seattle Kraken defeated the Boston Bruins, who lead the Eastern Conference, 4-1 on Thursday night, with goals and two assists from Matty Beniers. The victory marked the end of a five-game road journey for the team.
Seattle also had goals from Jared McCann, Eeli Tolvanen, and Jordan Eberle. Joey Daccord ended his three-game losing slide by stopping 36 shots.
“Absurd. Every night he’s been in goal, he’s made spectacular saves, according to Beniers.
For Daccord, a Boston native, it was an exciting experience.
For Daccord, a Boston native, it was an exciting experience.
“Very special evening,” he remarked. attempting to view things in their proper context. I was a lifelong Boston sports fan. For me, it was quite emotional.
Boston has lost four of its last five games and three of its last four at home. The Bruins’ David Pastrnak scored, while Jeremy Swayman made 22 stops.
The struggling Bruins and Florida were tied for first place in the Atlantic Division standings. The New York Rangers, who were leading the Metropolitan Division, were one point behind the Bruins for the majority of the Eastern Conference.
Five minutes into the game, Pastrnak put a shot past Daccord and then capitalized on the rebound to give the Bruins the lead for the 34th time this season.
After Swayman made the initial stop, Eberle persisted, and Seattle equalized at 10:49 of the first period thanks to a high-sticking penalty on Boston.
In the second, James van Riemsdyk missed an open net as Boston hit two posts. This annoyance was increased when Tolvanen scored a one-timer late in the game to help the Kraken take advantage of a 3-on-1 break. Beniers received credit for the second assist of the evening.
Although the results are not yet out, this is a common occurrence during the season. We made contact with a few posters. Things like that do occur, according to Bruins coach Jim Montgomery. “We’re going to stick together and carry on with our work and grinding.”
Two minutes into the third, Bruins forward Charlie Coyle had a fantastic chance to equalize the game, but his backhand attempt struck the post. When Beniers, a native of Massachusetts, beat Swayman on a breakaway from the left side, the deficit increased to two goals.
“Boston children adore returning home to Boston,” Beniers grinned. “I am aware that Daccord was fired up. I felt energized. It was enjoyable to triumph.
With 1:30 left, the Bruins had to kill off a penalty in order to obtain an extra skater for a 6-on-5 advantage, but Seattle found the empty net when McCann extended the Krakens’ lead to four goals.
Boston’s power play performance was 0 for 2, and during a four-game drought, it is 0 for 15.
We do an excellent job of examining the game holistically, in my opinion. In these situations, (Montgomery) and the coaches do a fantastic job of providing encouragement, according to Coyle. We would have preferred it if things had gone more our way since returning from the (All-Star) break. All in all, we’re still developing our game and goal. By all circumstances, there’s no cause to give up.
