At the Australian Open in 2024, Jannik Sinner denies Novak Djokovic his 25th major.

In the Australian Open 2024 semifinal, Jannik Sinner upset World No. 1, ending Novak Djokovic’s 33-match winning streak at Melbourne Park.
After breaking Djokovic’s serve twice in the first two sets, the 22-year-old Italian lost a match point in the third set in a 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-3 victory that sent him to his first-ever Grand Slam final.

On Sunday, he will compete for the title against either No. 6 Alexander Zverev or third-seeded Daniil Medvedev.

It will have to wait for Djokovic to attempt an unprecedented record-tying 11th Australian and 25th major victory overall.

At the first major of the season, he was riding a 33-match winning streak and hadn’t lost a match at Melbourne Park since 2018. In each of his prior victories in Australia’s quarterfinals, Djokovic went on to win the hardcourt championship.
