On Friday afternoon, fans at Alexandra Palace witnessed a dramatic conclusion to Judd Trump’s Masters championship defense at the hands of Ali Carter. Despite not being at his best, Trump persevered to force a decisive match, where Carter produced a remarkable break to advance to the London semi-finals. Ali Carter ended Judd Trump’s Masters defense with a thrilling 6-5 victory, securing his spot in the semi-finals.
The world No. 2 was behind 1-0, 2-1, and 4-2, but he managed to stay level and had a chance to win in the tenth, but he missed a match-ball red, and Carter won the decider to secure his spot in the round of four.
Carter won the opening frame with a break of 85 after Trump blew a green to the left middle on his first opportunity of the match.
In response, the reigning champion made 80 in the second to tie the game.
After scoring two hundred in the first round, Carter made sure he paid for his mistake by making a run of 103 after Trump had secured his place with a fantastic long red in the third.
Following three outstanding scoring frames, the fourth saw a gritty encounter that saw Trump win after he brilliantly long yellowed the ball from beneath the baulk rail. He went on to clear the colours and tie the match at the break.

Carter hit 71 in the fifth to seize the lead for the third time, reviving the massive scoring that had been missing in the gritty fourth.

He managed to hit the green, but it went in-off. Shortly after, Trump had a chance at the green, which he missed, and he then mopped up the colors to tie the score at 4–4.
In the tenth, nerves surfaced as both players committed errors and made dubious shot selections.
