To be in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships final match, Anna Kalinskaya, 25, and Jasmine Paolini, 28, won their semifinal matches in straight sets.

Qualifier Kalinskaya defeated World No. 1 Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-4. She had never before played Swiatek. In order to make Swiatek take ungainly strokes while moving, Kalinskaya used accurate serves and scattered the ball over the court. As a result, Kalinskaya made three unforced forehand errors compared to 13 for Swiatek. In the second set, Kalinskaya gave up one service break of her double break lead, but she remained composed and saved three match points. This is Kalinskaya’s greatest victory to date. Despite being Australian, she has been performing admirably under the radar.
