The Premier League Cup match between Norwich City and Leeds United Under-18s took place on Saturday afternoon at Thorp Arch. Leeds entered today’s match in second place in their group after defeating Aston Villa and defeating Nottingham Forest.

Harry Gray gave the home team the lead goal early on as the Whites, who had a lot of possession, made their pressure count.

Within the first ten minutes, Rhys Chadwick broke the deadlock by slipping Gray through on goal. Gray drove forward into the box and rifled the ball into the top corner.

Despite the early goal, there were not many chances at either end of the game in the first half. Leeds had a lot of ball, but they were unable to pose a serious threat to Caleb Ansen in the visiting team.

The only other goal attempt for the Canaries in the first half came from Errol Mundle-Smith. He recovered the ball in a hazardous area, but he directly attempted to beat Owen Grainger in the Whites net.

This meant that after a closely contested first forty-five minutes at Thorp Arch, Rob Etherington’s team led at the half.

Norwich City 1-0 Leeds United at halftime

Leeds came close twice in the first half after both teams made changes at the half, which really seemed to liven up the match.

Marley Wilson doubled the hosts’ lead in the 57th minute, capping a stellar goal scoring run with his fifth goal in three games.

Wilson received a pass from Chadwick, brought it down, cut to his left, and fired a shot into the bottom corner.

At the 70-minute mark, Norwich scored a goal back through forward play. After Gabriel Forsyth’s deep free kick, Gabriel Keita was there to convert at the back post.

Sam Chambers scored a wonder goal seven minutes later to give Leeds the lead once more.

The midfielder gave the Whites a third goal of the match with a long-range effort that cannoned off the post and into the net.

However, the Canaries scored a goal back to tie the game. When Elliot Myles’ cross went unanswered, it eventually squirmed over the line and was scored as an own goal.

In the final seconds of the game, the visitors continued to draw the level. Once more, Myles caused trouble; this time, he delivered a corner, and La’Sean Sealey was there to take off for home.

That was going to be the last activity for a fun-filled afternoon at Thorp Arch. Leeds remains second in their U18 Premier League Cup group after this point.

FULL TIME: Norwich City 3-3 Leeds United.
