Ish Wainright is coming back to the Suns.
DENVER: He’s returned.
The Phoenix Suns have waived guard Theo Maledon prior to their last preseason game of the current campaign, and have signed Ish Wainright to a two-way contract.
The Suns were trying to get him back on the team at the time. Wainright’s right calf strain kept him out of the first four preseason games.
Coach Frank Vogel stated at the time, “Hopefully it’s more of a logistical thing, explore some opportunities to go elsewhere if somebody pursues him.” “We’re big on Ish Wainright.”
Wainright was eventually signed by Portland, but he was waived in the first week of January. In just seven games with the Blazers, the 6-5 forward scored 20 points in 46 minutes of action.
Wainright, 29, averaged 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in his two seasons (2021–2023) as a Suns player.
