Numerous Aspirants Seeking to Sign Former Celtic.
The Celtics’ players are pushing for Blake Griffin to rejoin the squad in order to cover the open slot on the roster.
The NBA season is coming to an end, and teams are trying to bolster their rosters for the postseason or sign players they want to work with beyond the current season. This means that there will be movement on the buyout market during this time.
The time is running out for a player to be able to buy out their contract and still be eligible for the playoffs. The last day for someone to be waived and still be eligible to play in the playoffs is March 1. To be clear, they are not required to sign with a new team by that date.
As per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Mike Muscala, who is nearing a buyout with the Detroit Pistons, is attracting attention from several contenders this season.
After joining the Boston Celtics at the trade deadline from the Oklahoma City Thunder, the six-foot-ten big spent the majority of his time on the bench.
Then, they sent the ten-year veteran to the Washington Wizards by included him in the trade for Kristaps Porzingis. He was later traded for Danilo Gallinari, who is currently with the Milwaukee Bucks, and sent to the Motor City.
With the Pistons, Muscala averaged 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 13 games, four of which he started. 38.2 percent of his 2.6 three-point attempts were made by him.
Muscala is eligible to return to the C’s since, following his trade to the Wizards, the Minnesota native suited up for a different team.
A return currently appears doubtful, though, given that he played for them only sporadically the previous season, Boston’s addition of Xavier Tillman at the deadline, and Luke Kornet’s development.
However, the team leading the NBA rankings, 46-12, has a roster place available following an unexpected 117-99 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
The team’s players are pushing for Blake Griffin to rejoin in order to cover that spot.
