Boston — As the season nears its end, the Celtics still have a roster slot available, raising questions about how they plan to use it. However, as of right now, Blake Griffin, a former forward with the C’s who played for them last season, is not expected to rejoin the squad.

On the “Pardon My Take” podcast, Derrick White and Payton Pritchard recently disclosed that Griffin was urged to come back to Boston by a number of his Boston Celtics colleagues. However, Griffin seems to be enjoying his time with his family and not playing hoops at this point. But in his one season with the C’s, Griffin obviously left an impression on his teammates.

Blake is undoubtedly among our all-time greatest teammates, Griffin remarked. Thus, it’s wonderful to have him around at all times. Though we all appreciate that it’s his choice, I think it’s great to have him around.

Griffin, for one, seemed to have had a great time playing for the Celtics last season, despite the fact that they were unable to secure the championship. Griffin was warmly welcomed by C’s supporters, who frequently chanted for him to check in at game ends. Griffin played in 41 games last season and was a reliable big man for the team’s bench, despite not being the same explosive athlete he was earlier in his career.

However, it’s obvious that Griffin has put his family first at this time. That should come as no surprise given that he played in the NBA for 13 years and was selected six times to the All-Star team. But Griffin at least has the backing of his teammates to be back in the locker room if the itch still aches to return.
