Boston — — On Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics, who are now atop the NBA, defeated Brooklyn 136-86, led by 28 points from Payton Pritchard. This victory was Joe Mazzulla’s 100th as head coach and left the Nets with their second-worst loss in franchise history.
Derrick White scored 27 points in the end. In the final game of the season for both teams before the All-Star break, Jayson Tatum contributed 20 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds to help the Celtics defeat the Nets back-to-back and for the fourth time this year.
Boston leads the NBA with a 43-12 record going into the break after winning six straight games. In Mazzulla’s first season as coach, the Celtics finished 57-25. The team’s fifth-ever 50-point victory occurred on Wednesday.
Their success throughout the previous two seasons, according to Mazzulla, “is a testament to the people you have around you.”
Mazzulla remarked, “I tell the players that if they don’t let me, I can’t be who I am.” “I’m appreciative of that.”
