RONNIE O’SULLIVAN LEAVES WELSH OPEN DUE TO “ANXIETY” AND “STAGE FRIGHT” “Not something that I can forecast.”

With “stage fright” that he has suffered “for years,” Ronnie O’Sullivan has declared that he will not be competing in the Welsh Open this year. The world No. 1 has announced that he would not participate in the competition; this marks his second consecutive withdrawal following the German Masters, when he gave the excuse of “health and wellbeing.” The Rocket has won the Welsh Open four times.

On Saturday, Ronnie O’Sullivan declared he was withdrawing from the Welsh Open this year because of “anxiety” and “stage fright.”
O’Sullivan, a four-time winner of the Welsh Open, last prevailed in the competition in 2016, winning the championship match 9–5.

When he faced Jordan Brown in the championship match in 2021, the Northern Irishman emerged victorious 9–8, earning him his first ranking title.

O’Sullivan will now participate in Eurosport’s live coverage of the event rather than competing in Llandudno.
O’Sullivan announced his choice on social media, posting something like this: “Good morning, people. I wanted to inform you that I will not be playing in Llandudno the following week. It’s difficult to describe, but for years I experienced intermittent stage fright that was triggered by anxiety. I do my best to manage it, but it’s not something I can predict or control.

I apologize to everyone who purchased tickets, but at this time, I believe like this is the best thing for me and I just can’t get my cue out.
“I hope to see you all there. I still want to be around the tournament, so I’ll be working with Eurosport.”
The world number one was scheduled to play Liam Graham on Monday, but he has withdrew from his second straight competition after withdrawing from the German Masters in order to put his “health and wellbeing” first.
Since the beginning of December, The Rocket has been in incredible form, winning the World Grand Prix, The Masters, and the UK Championship.
