Devin Booker is the sharp-eyed scorer that took the Phoenix Suns from being forgettable in the league to the NBA Finals the previous season.

(Or, based on your feed, you may be aware of him as Kendall Jenner’s boyfriend.) It may surprise you to learn that when Booker isn’t stabbing his rivals in the face, he’s speeding through the streets of Arizona in an incredible collection of American vehicles from the 1950s to the 1990s, ranging from scary Buicks to winged Impalas.

This emphasis on the good ol’ USA helps explain why Booker is assisting with the unveiling of the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 today—a monomaniacal machine whose goal is to achieve staggering stats. (A handful that are noteworthy are: 670 hp is the most ever faster than the new Ferrari 296 from a V-8 engine in a production car; zero to sixty in 2.6 seconds.

GQ spoke with Booker for a minute about his desire to get an Entourage-inspired car, which he wants to obtain next, and how he is teaching his teammates to appreciate vintage automobiles.

GQ: Tell me about your involvement in the Z06 launch.

Devin Booker: Simply being a devoted follower of the Chevy brand. That was the beginning of it. And I believe that it all began when people discovered that I was a collector and that I drove cars to specific games during the playoffs.

The odd thing is, though, that I was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and I attended college in Kentucky, so I believe there is some connection between GM’s location in Michigan and Corvette’s manufacturing facility in Kentucky.

The Corvette Z06 is a really mean variant of the car. Have you previously been on a track? On the weekend, are you hitting apexes?
