Who NFC Championship Rivals Should Support for the Ravens
Across the coast, the 49ers and Lions will square off in the NFC Championship, while Baltimore (15-4) hosts the Kansas City Chiefs in their inaugural AFC Championship at M&T Bank Stadium.
The 49ers-Lions game winner will be the opponent the Ravens face in the Super Bowl if they make it there.
The Ravens would face either team in Las Vegas in the following manner:
San Francisco 49ers (13-5) vs. Detroit Lions (14-5)
FOX, Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
In search of their first NFC title game since 1991 and their first-ever trip to the Super Bowl, the third-seeded Lions travel to the Bay Area. The 49ers, who were ranked first, advanced to their third consecutive NFC Championship after defeating the Packers in a thrilling divisional game.
Deebo Samuel of the 49ers and Sam LaPorta of the Lions are both suffering with ailments, but both are expected to play in the championship game.
This season, Baltimore has fought and defeated both clubs. In Week 7, the Ravens defeated the Lions and quarterback Jared Goff 38-6 at home. On Christmas Night in Week 16, they made the trip to San Francisco and defeated the 49ers 33-19.
Goff, who went to the Super Bowl with the Rams in 2018, has a 5-3 playoff record. With a 3-1 postseason record despite a small sample size, Brock Purdy’s only defeat occurred in the NFC Championship game of the previous year due to an elbow injury.
In Week 7, the Ravens produced their largest offensive explosion of the season (503 total yards) as they shut down the Lions attack. Meanwhile, five interceptions played a major role in Baltimore’s victory over the 49ers. In a rematch, would Purdy turn the ball over as much?
It would also be a rematch of Super Bowl XLVII from 2013 with the 49ers.
