Ronnie O’Sullivan Draws Inspiration from Rivals’ Struggles at Masters 2024: “I Love Seeing Their Bottle Go”

At Alexandra Palace on Sunday, Ronnie O’Sullivan won a record-tying eighth Masters title after rallying from three frames down to defeat Ali Carter. Following his most recent victory over “The Captain” and overturning Carter’s early advantage, O’Sullivan discussed the strategies he likes to use to gauge whether his opponents “have the bottle to get over the line” on important occasions.

After becoming the oldest champion in Masters history, Ronnie O’Sullivan revealed that he enjoys testing his opponents to see if they “have the bottle to get over the line”.
After defeating Ali Carter in an incredible 10-7 comeback triumph at Alexandra Palace on Sunday, “The Rocket” won his eighth Masters championship. He then told Eurosport that he will be taking a two-month break from professional snooker.

At one stage, Carter had the lead 6-3 and appeared to be headed for his first Masters victory, but O’Sullivan responded with three straight wins to square the score at halftime.

Carter had an unprecedented ninth century of the event upon the restart, but O’Sullivan controlled the baize and won seven of the following nine frames to secure his most recent title.
After the match, the 23-time Triple Crown winner talked about pressing his rivals to the edge in crucial situations in the Eurosport studio.
“I had to maintain Ali’s integrity,” he remarked. “Let’s see if he has the bottle to cross the line,” was my thought. That was everything that made me feel attracted to you tonight.”Let’s get him to the point where I want to see if he twitches,” was my thought at the time. I adore witnessing their bottle disappear. I adore it.

Even if you play awful, you can still put them in that situation where they say, “Let’s see if you can pull it off.” Getting him to the point where I say, “Come on, let’s see if you’ve got it,” was what kept me going tonight.
“It’s a good place to find out when you’re out there, as not many people have.”
O’Sullivan went on to say that his greatest strength was challenging his opponents on important issues.
He remarked, “That’s really my main asset; I just try to get to that point where it’s all about potting big balls.”
It involves keeping oneself together. To be clear, not all of the tour’s participants are capable of doing it. I prefer to include them in that.

This season, the 48-year-old has won both Triple Crown events; to complete the set, the Rocket now needs a record-tying eighth World Championship.
O’Sullivan said he hasn’t mastered the sport, even though he has won the world championship seven times, the UK championship eight times, and he recently won a historic eighth Masters title.
Following his most recent victory, O’Sullivan declared in front of the crowd, “I’ve never been driven by titles or numbers or all that sort of stuff.”
“The main thing for me has always been to play well, compete, and love the game.

It would be an added benefit if I were to win a few events. My motivation has never changed; I’ve always come to learn how to play this game well. I may not have succeeded yet, but I’ll keep trying.
McManus exclaims, “Genius” O’Sullivan can “find ways of doing the impossible.”
Recap of the Masters final: O’Sullivan rallies for his ninth victory.

O’Sullivan announced that he would be taking a break before the circuit reaches the Crucible following a hectic period.
He declared, “I’m going to take two months off now.” “Since there are only 32 players in the World Grand Prix, I’ll probably just play next week.”I will, however, henceforth avoid all other tournaments. I’m ready for a vacation.I like going to exhibitions since they’re entertaining, therefore I’m looking forward to doing so.
“It’s not good for me to play too much tough snooker. I now have to settle in, back off, and enjoy myself in the game.
