The most recent favorite to withdraw early from this year’s World Snooker Championship is Ronnie O’Sullivan.
O’Sullivan lost 13–9 against Ali Carter in his match to advance to the quarterfinals, following the winner of the previous year, Mark Selby, out of the Crucible.
But it’s not the snooker itself that’s generating conversation.
‘The rocket’ struck Carter with a slight shoulder when he made his move off the table in the 19th frame, when Carter was leading and O’Sullivan was obviously not thrilled with something about his opponent’s strategy.
O’Sullivan told Carter this was one for “being Mr. Angry” after tricking him into a snooker.
Informing his opponent that it was his shot, Carter just replied: “Thank you very much, very nice of you.” Referee Paul Collier then urged a pretty young O’Sullivan to “just play on.”
Watch this strange scenario from The Crucible unfold below.
