Adidas and Aston Villa sign a new uniform agreement for the 2024–2025 season, replacing Castore.
Adidas will replace Castore in Aston Villa’s uniforms for the upcoming campaign, according to a lucrative new kit agreement.
Villa is in their second season with British company Castore, having signed a multi-year deal in 2022. However, following an agreement on a long-term deal, they will switch to the heavyweight German manufacturer in 2024–2025.
Adidas, which has agreements with teams like Manchester United and Real Madrid, will provide the men’s and women’s teams at Villa as well as the youth divisions with uniforms as part of the agreement.
Since the beginning of the 2023–24 season, Villa, whose Egyptian co-owner Nassef Sawiris controls around 7% of Adidas, has been considering terminating their contract with Castore.
Chris Heck, the club’s head of business operations, was able to negotiate the forthcoming transfer in response to playing staff concerns with this season’s “wet-look” Castore shirt.
Members of Villa’s men’s and women’s teams said in a September story by The Athletic that the jerseys had grown too heavy during games, potentially impairing their performance.
Players originally voiced concerns about the jerseys during preseason, claiming that the 90% polyester and 10% elastane material was “saturated” and ineffective at absorbing perspiration.
