Premier League teams celebrate an FA Cup-filled day after Newcastle’s derby victory.

In the FA Cup’s third round, Newcastle United defeated Sunderland 3-0 at the Stadium of Light, demonstrating the superiority of the two teams.

They were among the six Premier League clubs that advanced on Saturday.

Newcastle had led via an own goal from Dan Ballard in the first half, before goals from Alexander Isak twice.

Following their Monday loss to Liverpool, Newcastle made two changes: Miguel Almiron began in place of Lewis Miley, while Kieran Trippier replaced Tino Livramento in the starting lineup.

After a fiercely contested first half, Ballard broke the deadlock when he diverted Joelinton’s cross into his own net. Eddie Howe’s team had lost seven of their previous eight games.

Shortly after the interval, Almiron took advantage of a defensive blunder and passed the ball to Isak for an easy finish. After Anthony Gordon was taken down in the ninetieth minute, Isak scored his second goal from the penalty spot.

Newcastle will be hoping that this victory serves as a launchpad for improved Premier League outcomes when they play Manchester City at St. James’ Park on Saturday.

Villa defeats Middlesbrough with a late goal.
In the 87th minute, Matty Cash’s goal gave Aston Villa a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough, a Championship team.

It was an effort-filled triumph for Unai Emery’s team, who won the FA Cup for the first time since 2016.

Leander Dendoncker, Jhon Duran, Boubacar Kamara, and Cash were the four new players added to the squad.

Tom Glover, the goalkeeper for Middlesbrough, had a fantastic evening, save two shots from Duran and the captain John McGinn.

Before Cash made sure there would be no replay, Ezri Konsa also struck a post with a shot from beyond the box that deflected well and beat Glover.

When Villa plays Everton on Sunday, January 14, they have the opportunity to draw level with league leaders Liverpool.

Bournemouth overcomes fear to triumph
At Loftus Road, AFC Bournemouth overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Queens Park Rangers 3-2.

The team that was defeated by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday saw seven changes made by Andoni Iraola; the starting lineup only included Marcus Tavernier, Marcos Senesi, Lewis Cook, and Luis Sinisterra.

Sinclair Armstrong and Lyndon Dykes each scored goals in the last two minutes to give QPR a 2-0 lead at the interval.

However, Iraola’s team responded brilliantly after the interval, halving the lead with a deflected goal from Tavernier before Kieffer Moore’s header pulled the score closer.

The reversal was completed by substitute Justin Kluivert in the 69th minute, and Bournemouth secured their spot in the fourth round when Tavernier’s free kick struck the crossbar, just missing his second of the game.

On Sunday, January 21, Bournemouth will try to build on their recent success when they host Liverpool at Vitality Stadium in the Premier League.
