Is Lamont Butler back for UK basketball? Injury update on Kentucky guard for Colgate game.

Lamont Butler, the star point guard for the Kentucky Wildcats, is still recovering from an ankle injury he suffered during the team’s loss to Clemson ¹. Unfortunately, he missed the Gonzaga game and his status for the upcoming Colgate game is uncertain.

According to Coach Mark Pope, Butler’s ankle is “a little bit of an issue,” but he’s hopeful for a speedy recovery ¹. Pope also praised Butler’s progress, saying he’s “making good progress” and that his numbers are “unbelievable” ².

In Butler’s absence, Kerr Kriisa started at point guard against Gonzaga, but he also suffered an injury, a non-contact foot injury that required surgery ³. Kriisa is expected to miss 3-6 weeks, setting up a potential return sometime in January.

With both Butler and Kriisa injured, the Wildcats will rely on other players to step up and fill the void. Jaxson Robinson ran the point guard position and had a breakout game against Gonzaga, scoring 18 points and dishing out five assists ².

The Wildcats are set to face Colgate on December 12, and while Butler’s status is uncertain, Coach Pope is confident in his team’s ability to adapt and overcome ⁴.
