Breaking News;CBS Mock Trade Sends Kyler Murray to Vikings..

ARIZONA — The Arizona Cardinals are expected by many on the outside to retain Kyler Murray heading into the 2024 offseason, though that won’t stop conversation until the Cards are on the clock in the NFL Draft and we gain our final answer.

Mostly driven from the national media, trade interest could be generated for a handful of teams that feel as if they’re a quarterback away from winning it all.

One of those squads could be the Minnesota Vikings, who are set to lose Kirk Cousins this offseason.

Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports recently finished a mock draft in which he outlined the parameters of a deal:

QB Kyler Murray and a 2025 sixth-round selection go to the Vikings.

The Cardinals receive picks No. 46 (second round), No. 159 (fifth round), and a fourth-round selection in 2025 (which becomes a third round pick if Murray passes for more than 4,000 yards in 2024).

To replace Murray, the Cardinals selected North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with Arizona’s second-round selection.

Maye possesses all of the team’s quarterbacking skills and is a pure pocket passer. This is the right move for Arizona after the Murray deal, wrote Trapasso, who had Caleb Williams going first overall to the Chicago Bears.

Murray’s enormous contract is about to expire, which may make it more difficult for Arizona to let go of the former Heisman winner. Nevertheless, others, like ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, find it hard to think Murray will be dealt.

The Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons, and New England Patriots are among other teams who could be looking to add a quarterback this summer.
