BIG WIN FOR PETE WEBER AS HE CAPTURES THE BUD MOORE PBA50 PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP
Virginia’s Sterling Following the first day of match play at the 2023 Bud Moore PBA50 Players Championship, Pete Weber remarked on Wednesday, “I got breaks, I got it, I’m winning.”
With an 11-1 record in match play on Thursday—which encompassed another 300 games—he validated that claim and was awarded the top seed. Then it was time to get his tools and leave for Bill Moore’s house to do the task.
During practice, Weber wasn’t quite as confident about his prospects after entering the special environment. But for him, two people made all of that different.
“I owe Kelly Kulick and Bill Rowe for my title tonight,” Weber declared. “Kelly recorded Bill and exclaimed, ‘Pete, observe what he is doing.'” He is attempting to maintain the ball in the line while tossing it as hard as he can.
Therefore, Weber’s strategy for facing Troy Lint in the championship match revolved around self-encouragement and execution.
Every time I got on the approach, I told myself to “throw it as hard as you can,” and it seemed to work, according to Weber. “Kelly is here, and I can’t thank her enough for telling me to be a man and throw it.”
After two frames in which Weber and Lint were deadlocked, Lint left the 6-7-10 for an open in the third frame. Weber’s initial idea was to seize every opportunity. Weber executed the roll with five consecutive blows. With four strikes and a spare in return, Lint took the match to the foundation frame.
Lint made a fantastic shot and left the solid eight, according to Weber. “I received breaks even though I arguably threw the worst shot of the day. You don’t win if you don’t receive breaks, as I stated yesterday.
In the ninth inning, Weber secured a 6-10 lead and required just a spare to win in the tenth. Though he thought he threw it “terrible again,” he was lucky.
He won the $20,000 top prize and a major title, his first victory since May 2021. With 14 career PBA50 titles, he is presently only two behind Walter Ray Williams Jr. and tied with John Handegard.
Regarding his opportunity to match Williams, Weber remarked, “Walter has got 16 and we still have three tournaments left.” At The Villages, I had two victories. Please don’t count me out since I enjoy Florida and we will be making three trips there.
Weber exclaimed, “I owe my dad, my mom, and everyone up in heaven for what I’ve got today.”

With respect to his chance to square up against Williams, Weber said, “We still have three tournaments left, and Walter has 16.” I had two wins at The Villages. Given that I like Florida and that we will be visiting there three times, kindly don’t discount me.
Weber yelled, “I owe my dad, my mom, and everyone up in heaven for what I’ve got today.”
