Sad News;Mark Selby reveals his wife, Vikki Layton, is facing a health battle….

Mark Selby, a British snooker player, disclosed his wife Vikki’s health issues in an interview that was conducted after the intense World Championship final last night.

After losing to Luca Brecel of Belgium in snooker, four-time champion Selby, 39, had an emotional conversation with BBC journalist Hazel Irvine in which he discussed his personal battles with depression and worries about his wife’s health.

After defeating Selby 18–15 to win the title of World Champion, Belgian player Brecel, 28, paid tribute to Selby and his wife during his acceptance speech. “I just want to say “stay strong” because I’ve heard some news and I’m not sure if I should say it, but I just wanted to say “stay strong Vikki.”

What exactly Vikki’s health problem is remains unknown. Sofia, the couple’s daughter, was born in 2006. Selby’s wife, a former professional pool player, is recognized for having supported him during his continuous fight with depression.

Hazel Irvine discussed Selby’s battle with mental health issues at the Crucible last night, including his need for antidepressants.

“Where I’ve been to where I am now… I’ve enjoyed the last two weeks,” he said to her. Given what’s going on off the table—not only with Vikki, but with me as well—it’s evident that your health comes first.

It’s a game at the end of the day, one that you hope to win, but if you don’t, it’s still not over.

After proposing in Venice the previous year, the couple married in Mexico in 2011 and welcomed their daughter in 2014. Selby had a hard upbringing, having lost his father to illness at the age of sixteen and had his mother abandon him when he was eight years old.

Known to supporters as “The Jester from Leicester,” his mental state deteriorated after he was awarded the highest snooker title for the first time in May 2016.

In an interview with MailOnline last month, he stated that his spouse had recognized the early indicators of his mental health deterioration.

“Vikki said she came to the table to greet me, but instead of being excited, I stared through her as if she wasn’t there,” he added in his explanation. I didn’t truly rejoice, she claimed. She saw that I was experiencing it at the time.

Selby went on, “I spoke to the doctor and we watched the footage back.” On Sunday night, Selby created history by finishing a 147 in the final. “It’s clear from your body language and behavior that you were going through it without even realizing it,” he stated.

Selby was prescribed antidepressants a few months later. But it took him an additional five years to disclose his struggle with depression. That occurred in January of last year, following his defeat in the Masters quarterfinals, when he revealed on social media that he had experienced a mental health “relapse.”

“Just want to apologize to all my friends and family for letting them down,” he stated in his post. Currently not feeling well mentally; had a relapse.

This month, he remarked, “I wasn’t enjoying anything; it hit me like a ton of bricks out of nowhere.” “My life was not really mine.” I was securing myself inside the residence.

The famous snooker player says he still takes his medicine but tries to live in the moment. “I write down something that I want to complete that day,” he remarked when he woke up each day. Anything might be the cause. like after school, bring Sofia to the park. It provides me with an objective.

I’m still taking my meds. I’ll take it if it means I’ll be dependent on them for the remainder of my life and staying where I am right now.
