In a momentous event for both Amir Jackson and the Portal High School community, the senior athlete officially committed to the University of Florida to join the Gators football team. The signing ceremony, held at Portal Middle High School, was a proud moment for Jackson’s family, friends, and supporters who cheered him on. Jackson, known for his impressive athleticism and leadership, decided on Florida after multiple visits, where he felt at home. Despite being a multi-sport athlete with standout performances in basketball and track, Jackson’s love for football ultimately shaped his decision.

During his time at Portal High, Jackson accumulated a long list of achievements. As a two-time all-state football player and the 2023 region athlete of the year, he was instrumental in the team’s success. His statistics as a wide receiver include 86 catches for 1,437 yards and 17 touchdowns, alongside 46 carries for 388 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Adding to his versatility, he also contributed over 250 return yards in his senior season, showcasing his all-around athletic prowess. By the time he finished his high school football career, he had totaled more than 3,000 all-purpose yards.
