After losing to Noppon Saengkham in the Scottish Open semifinal, John Higgins bounced back to defeat Daniel Wells 5-3 in Sheffield to secure a trip to the German Masters.
The four-time world champion opened the match with a trademark double on a red to put Wells ahead 20-0. In a hard-fought matchplay, Higgins top-scored with a relatively low knock of 50 in the sixth frame. Higgins finished with a fine 44.
