The San Francisco 49ers officially open training camp for the season this week, after months of anticipation.
Everything you need to know is broken down by Niner Noise for this important occasion.
But at last, it’s here. On Wednesday, July 25, the San Francisco 49ers will report to training camp in preparation for the 2018 campaign.
The players report at that time. The real work on the field starts the next day.
As 2018 approaches, head coach Kyle Shanahan’s team has become one of the NFL’s most captivating narratives. Although the Niners’ 6-10 record from the previous season is nothing to be proud of, most analysts have focused on their five-game winning streak at the end of the season.
Much of that, of course, was down to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and how he helped change Shanahan’s offense from a scuffling, inconsistent squad to one of the more efficient offenses down the 2017 stretch.
Positively, Garoppolo won’t have to operate with a little understanding of Shanahan’s playbook going forward. Conversely, though, the 49ers are also not being overlooked.
All of this should make for an intriguing 2018 campaign for the red and gold. Additionally, Niners supporters haven’t been this enthusiastic about an impending campaign in a while.
Niner Noise breaks down all the information you’ll need to know for the next several weeks leading up to San Francisco’s preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys on August 9. Training camp is crucial because, after all, the pads go on.
