The world’s top bowlers will be dispersed over five distinct zones when the 2021 PBA Players Championship begins this weekend.
While each of the five regions will have different obstacles and possibilities, one thing is certain: certain well-known brands will almost definitely get to the top of the regional stepladders.
On Saturday and Sunday, fans will only be able to watch live action from the regional competitions on FloBowling. In order to keep you informed, FloBowling will also offer a FloZone feed that will feature activity from all throughout the nation.
Here are the top three players in each area according to our 2021 FloBowling Preseason PBA Power Rankings to help you get ready for this weekend. We also included three additional noteworthy players from each region just to be safe.
Bill O’Neill, the current champion, is located in the East, so if you’re searching for the player to defeat in this year’s PBA Players Championship, look no further.
O’Neill, who is ranked No. 2 in our preseason rankings, is coming off of one of his greatest seasons ever, so it would be shocking if he didn’t make progress.
No. 6 Kyle Troup and No. 18 Chris Via are also in this region. Both players had successful 2020 campaigns, with Troup taking home three victories. Via is still hankering for his debut album.
Ryan Shafer, Jason Sterner, and Parker Bohn III are three additional prominent players in this area.
European competitors were brought in to participate in the South, and number eight on the list is Jesper Svensson.
Svensson, a two-time champion in 2020, will battle in a challenging area with fellow European Dom Barrett, who is rated No. 14 going into the season.
Tommy Jones, rated No. 17 in this area, is the other player with such ranking. He was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame in 2020 after winning the PBA Hall of Fame Classic.
There are three additional prominent players in this area: Walter Ray Williams Jr., Norm Duke, and Ryan Ciminelli.
The Central looks to be one of the hardest to go through with five players ranked, including four in the top 10.
Just one week after taking home the PBA Tournament of Champions title, fourth-ranked Kris Prather placed fourth in the previous year’s Players Championship.
EJ Tackett, who starts the season rated No. 5, is still among the greatest players on tour despite not having won a championship in more than a year and a half. Along with Prather and Tackett, No. 7 Sean Rash is also in this area and will be the favorite to go on.
Similar to the Central, the West boasts two of the top three players among its five top-20 players. The West is loaded at the top, led by Jason Belmonte, the number one seed.
Belmonte will go from Australia to participate on the PBA Tour with hopes of winning one of the largest salaries of the year. Even though he may have a difficult route out of this area, he needs to be the favorite to win.
The third-ranked player, Anthony Simonsen, is also in this zone after relocating to the Las Vegas region last year. Meanwhile, No. 12-ranked rising talent Darren Tang is chasing his first professional crown.
Three further noteworthy individuals are No. 13 Marshall Kent, No. 16 Jakob Butturff, and.
