16-year-old star making history in the global darts championship: “Winning this title would be incredible.”

Luke Littler is competing for a prize fund of $630,000.

Darts players have taken notice of Luke Littler, and on Wednesday, he has the potential to create history.

When he faces Luke Humphries in the PDC World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace in London, the 16-year-old phenom has the potential to create history.

Should he triumph there, he would become the sport’s youngest champion ever.

Winning this championship would be incredible. According to The Associated Press, Littler stated, “I set myself the goal to win one game and be back after Christmas, and I’m still here.”

“Yet, I can’t even begin to picture myself picking up that trophy. All I have to do is be calm, focused, and Luke Littler.”

Littler, an unseeded player from northwest England, defeated 2018 winner Rob Cross 6-2 on Tuesday to get to the final. Raymond van Barneveld, the five-time world champion, was previously defeated by him, and he has already earned $250,000 in prize money.

Littler would become the youngest winner and get a reward of $630,000 if she wins the final on Wednesday. According to CNBC, Michael van Gerwen, who took home the trophy in 2014 at the age of 24, presently holds the record.

Although Humphries, 28, is ranked third, he does not think Littler will be underestimated going into his maiden championship match.

“I’m probably going to have to play the game of my life … to stand a chance tomorrow.”
