In the 2024 Masters final, Ronnie O’Sullivan defeated Ali Carter to win the coveted crystal trophy for a record-tying eighth time.
In the final, both players played some excellent, fast-paced snooker. Carter won the opening frame, but O’Sullivan quickly answered with a century and another fast frame to take the lead, 2-1. However, Carter produced a stunning 125 to go into the mini-break with the scores equal.
O’Sullivan’s offensive strategy proved to be both a boon and a bane as he allowed Carter to score another brilliant century to take the lead 3-2. In this race to ten, they split the next two frames until Carter won the last one of the afternoon to lead 5-3 heading into the evening.
They close the deficit in the evening thanks to O’Sullivan’s explosive play, and at 6–6, they reach the mid-session interval level. However, the seven-time world champion quickly gained momentum and won 10–7.
